Dangers of D.I.Y. Kits

The dangers of handling D.I.Y. kits of paint sealants:

It is dangerous to use any paint sealants if the car body has not been properly prepared. Through years of experience, we have found that harmful pollutants from acid rain, industrial fallout, exhaust fumes, tree sap and other acidic residues embedded in paint's pores can cause adverse effects, especially if they are not thoroughly removed before sealing.

Facts for you to consider:

  1. These embedded acidic and corrosive pollutants constantly corrode and oxidize the paint through chemical reactions, thus causing the paint's shine and gloss to deteriorate and turn dull from the inside, beneath the paint sealant.
  2. Most of the D.I.Y. kits are not professional auto-detailing workshop grades and/or are too inadequate in product range for a professional job. Most D.I.Y. manufacturers claim that their products are easy-to-use two steps applications, as easy as ABC. Unfortunately, this is not the truth, otherwise why would we need professionally trained technicians in auto-detailing workshops?
  3. There are essential tools like polishing machines, different grades of wool pads and sponge pads needed at different paint restoration processes, different revolution speeds for the machine and technical know-how and experience to back the whole paint preparation process.

Without all these hands-on experience and technical know-how, it is at the owner's risk and responsibility. When it comes to warranty claims, the manufacturer can dismiss liability because the application processes were not in accordance to manufacturer's specified application procedures (note: most of the time, the manufacturers themselves are not familiar with the application process). Due to the lack of knowledge and experience, most users of D.I.Y. kits end up with disappointing results, and worst of all, owners sometimes create irreversible damage that require a body paint re-spray to rectify.
